The one thing new users (in particular those being used to Impression and OvationPro) usually find most irritating about Easi/TechWriter is the way styles are defined and edited, which is rather unintuitive compared to the industry standard way of having a style editor. This was confirmed by last year's survey in which the proposal of adding a Style Editor ended up in second place (only beaten by Word2000 export, which is a likely candidate for one of the next major releases).

We are delighted to announce that Easi/TechWriter 8.73 comes with a Style Editor.

With the Style Editor, you can finally view and edit styles using a standard dialogue based approach. No more worrying about selecting and
changing the right thing in the document and updating styles from local changes!

In addition to the Style Editor, version 8.7 will finally fix one more long-standing oddity by offering an option to limit the width of the
window to the width of the document (rather than using the width of the entire screen). So, finally, you can click on the toggle size icon
without being annoyed by the window extending to cover the entire screen. This change brings Easi/TechWriter more in step with standard RISC OS behaviour.

Style Finder

This useful little window is the perfect companion to the Style Editor. It permanently sits next to your document and as you move the cursor through the document it automatically updates to show you the full hierarchy of styles applied at the cursor position. And even better, next to each style entry, you have a handy "Edit..." button that allows you to launch the Style Editor for this style with a single mouse click.
